Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my existing stock and customers across?+

Yes. Export a spreadsheet (CSV) from your current system and use our import tool — it matches your columns to the right fields automatically, even when the headings don’t line up exactly. You preview everything before anything is saved.

I’m mid-way through my catalogue numbering. Can I continue the sequence?+

Yes. Set your next catalogue number in Settings and new catalogues will carry on from there, so a customer never sees the numbering reset.

Can I add a book just by scanning it or typing its ISBN?+

Yes — for modern stock with a barcode, scan it with your phone or your computer’s webcam, or type the ISBN, and we fetch the title, author, publisher and date from the major book databases so you don’t key it in twice. We’ll also suggest a cover image you can keep as a placeholder or replace with a photo of your actual copy. Older books without an ISBN are added by hand as usual.

Can I list my books on AbeBooks and other marketplaces?+

You can export your stock as a tab-delimited file for AbeBooks, Biblio or Alibris, a CSV, or a plain-text list — filtered to all stock, available-only, or a single catalogue. The exporter is built to add new formats easily as the trade changes.

How do catalogues work — can a book be in more than one?+

Yes. A book can sit in as many catalogues as you like. Build one by ticking books in your stock list and choosing “Add to catalogue”, or make a Smart catalogue that fills itself automatically with every book matching a saved search (for example “Travel, available only”) and stays up to date as you add stock. Either way you get a print-ready catalogue in your house style, with or without prices.

Do I own my data?+

Always. Your stock, customers and orders are yours; you can export them at any time, and we’ll never sell or share them. If you ever leave, you take everything with you.

Is my data secure and private?+

Each dealer’s data is isolated, and we use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in — no advertising or third-party tracking. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Do I need to install anything?+

No. Biblio Catalogue runs in your web browser on any computer or tablet — there is nothing to install, back up or update yourself.

What happens after the 30-day free trial?+

Nothing automatic — we don’t take card details up front. If you don’t subscribe, your account simply becomes read-only: you can still sign in, view everything and export your data, but not add or edit until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted.

How does billing work, and can I cancel any time?+

Subscriptions are handled by Freemius, our Merchant of Record, who process payment securely and take care of any VAT or sales tax. After subscribing you get a “Manage billing” link in the app to update your card, download invoices, or cancel at any time — there’s no lock-in.

What does it cost?+

Dealer is £15/month and Shop (with multiple staff logins) is £29/month, both after the 30-day free trial. Prices are in GBP; Freemius adds any tax due for your country at checkout.

Can more than one person use it?+

Yes, on the Shop plan, where multiple staff can have their own logins to the same shop. The owner invites colleagues by email from Settings.
